About the IMC

The Idyllwild Master Chorale is an auditioned, professionally conducted community of vocal musicians united by their passion for choral music and dedicated to connecting their voices to the heart, soul and musical taste of our mountain culture. Members of the IMC come from the Idyllwild area, Garner Valley, Anza, Hemet, Temecula, Palm Desert and as far away as Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties.

In 1975, Robert Evans Holmes created the beginnings of IMC by putting together a foundation group of 16 local singers for a performance of Saint Saen’s “Christmas Oratorio.” By 1976 he has added a full orchestra, a chorale of 125 singers, and four soloists to perform the entire “Messiah” by Handel. For 38 years, the Chorale has brought beautiful chorale music to Idyllwild and the Hill through concert performances and musical theatre.
